  • As part of its mandate, to take governance down to the people, the Open Government Initiative (OGI) in partnership with civil society organizations on Saturday 30 November 2013, unveiled its first ever digital library and a resource center on 2 Kay Street, Off Anzzilini Highway Makeni. Declaring the facility opened to public, the Minister of Information and Communications and Government Spokesman, Alhaji Alpha Khanu said when President Dr Ernest Koroma visited White House in Washington March this year, together with other African heads of state, he adequately informed about the effective role of OGI in the country’s democratic process.

Simply, the Open Government Initiative is a presidential vision
that is aimed at promoting and supporting effective governance through efficient free-flow of information between government and the people. Good governance and dialogue may be impeded by the blight of corruption which disrupts free flow of information, undermines accountability and transparency for decisions and discourages greater participation in the decision making process.
